This season, a handful of designers at TRANOÏ HOMME signal the return of refined men’s tailoring, however with a “New Dandy” twist, complete with colourful and modern reinterpretations of all the essential accoutrements of a true gentleman.
While the classic dandy sits carefully between sobriety and extravagance, the modern incarnation swaps perfectly starched linen and affected indifference for an assumed elegance which allows men to express their individuality. Floral motifs and clashing prints, patterned silk, checked jackets, tapered, Italian-made pants , and linen waistcoats, are just a few of the items that designers will be presenting at the Spring/Summer 2016 show.
Long gone are the days when accessories were restricted to the female silhouette - With this sophisticated look, accessories take the limelight and are made in the finest materials. Designers encourage men to indulge themselves with ceramic bowties, silk cravats, ornate cufflinks and crocodile skin brief cases. Nevertheless, the tone remains playful - The New Dandy wears what he pleases and in doing so pushes the boundaries of menswear.
