Bright, eye-catching colours set the tone at this season’s Tranoï Preview Spring/Summer 2016 show. As the warmer months approach and the sun makes a tentative appearance, brands presenting their collections at the show, dare us to go for more exciting summer looks, swapping traditional neutrals and pastels in favour of lemon yellow, fiery fuchsia, candy red and tangerine orange.

As always, the ready-to-wear selection is varied, with the main criteria being quality and innovation. Beachwear brand Ambas combines Italian creativity and Indian craftsmanship to create swimwear inspired by the vibrant colours of the Mediterranean, while All Things Mochi celebrates the art of embroidery with one-of-a-kind pieces featuring vivid reds and cornflower blue. The designers at Fyodor Golan explore contrasts, pairing sophisticated silhouettes with fluorescent colours that remind us of our adolescence.

For those who wish to jump on the colour wagon in a more discreet fashion, many designers are presenting accessories in vitamin colours that immediately boost a simple look. Colourful shawls by Scottish Brand Begg&Co, espadrilles hand-made in Spain from the Sun-Z by Zdar collection, cheerful handbags by Rocio and Halaby - these are only a few of the colour-rich pieces that will be brightening up the SS16 show. For a touch of sophistication, don’t miss the jewellery brand Aamaya by Priyanka which fuses Eastern and Western influences, as well as the ornate yet playful pieces by Shourouk featuring Swarovski crystals and colourful stones.

Although the weather remains unpredictable, these designers creative use of colour injects a general feeling of optimism and youthfulness into the Spring/Summer season.
