Born in Perugia, Italy, in 1988, Italian designer Marco Mannucci showed an early interest in art and jewellery. After graduating from the Accademia dell'Arte in Arezzo, he continued his studies at the IED International European Institute in Rome, where he graduated with honours in June 2010 as a Jewellery Designer. In September 2010, he was selected as a young talent and best student by the most prestigious schools of Italian fashion, which allowed him to show his amazing prototypes of accessories at the Lounge Catwalk for Style.it in Milan. Shortly after, Mannucci decided to undertake an experimentation project by revisiting the jewel in a modern style, taking advantage of the technical skills and crafts of his father, a master artisan for over 40 years. Mannucci's career began by exhibiting his creations in several art galleries in Rome and continued with various.

The brand M_1978 was created in October 2014 by Mannucci as the designer, and his sister Chiara, in charge of the company management, under the guidance of their father, master artisan Mario. Their project started with the jewel characterized by experimentation, and moved on introducing small leather bags and wallets with precious metal inserts for both men and women. The handmade processing of various metals with soft leather inserts, innovative treatments combined with the traditional ones, have created a unique product with its own identity, typical of the Made in Italy style.
