XAVIER BRISOUX : THE MASTER OF KNITWEAR

XAVIER BRISOUX : THE MASTER OF KNITWEAR

After his studies at London St Martins School he graduated in 2005 with a specialization in knitwear. He comes out with a collection that represents the delicacy of his style. GET SIAMESE lays the foundations of his work for his future collections. He discovers a language constructed on materials and technique : threads used as words, knit as vocabulary, the theme becomes weft . He decides then to launch his first men collections under the name Xavier Brisoux.

He enters Anne-Valerie Hash Ateliers in 2004. He practices symbiosis by approach, building and deconstructing knitwears adapted to women. After many years of collaboration he created a capsule “Anne-Valérie Hash with Xavier Brisoux” that is presented in her A/W 12/13 pre-collection.

In June 2008 he is selected for the Woolmark Prize (directed by Sonia Rykiel) as one of the ten best knit designers of the world. His collection REMINAISSANCE will be exhibited at Palais de Tokyo.

His work is full of poetry, he gets his inspiration in mythological stories. Xavier is strong of an incredible freedom of research : pullovers can be unraveled, constructions are complex, steams are moving, other pieces are knitted without seam … Xavier Brisoux uses knitwear as a territory of experimentations, where an obvious appearance creates a new conception of fashion.

“Histories are paintings, strongly linked, wire to wire, and we follow each history to the center, because the center is the end”
