Anicet x Tranoï Paris
About Elia and Her Journey
Can you tell us about your background and what led you to create Anicet?
I’m Elia Pradel, founder of Anicet.
I created Anicet with the desire to offer a sustainable and responsible alternative to contemporary jewelry, aligned with the challenges of our time. By upcycling vintage jewelry and dormant stock from major brands, we create unique, timeless, and unisex pieces made from durable materials such as solid silver and vermeil.
Before launching the brand, I worked in the luxury industry and supported entrepreneurs in the tech and digital sectors.
What are the main inspirations behind your creations?
I was born and raised in Guadeloupe until I was 18 years old.
Inspired by Édouard Glissant’s philosophy and his concept of creolization, I design contemporary jewelry that embraces association, the blending of shapes and materials, contrasts between femininity and masculinity, and creative reinterpretation.
Your jewelry has a distinctive aesthetic. How would you define Anicet’s identity in a few words?
Anicet’s aesthetic is shaped by the dialogue between art and design history and Caribbean heritage. It revolves around collage and the association of forms. Our identity is built on the desire to merge exceptional craftsmanship and artisanal techniques with a resolutely contemporary vision. We aim to connect the past with the present.
Our drops and collections reinterpret classic pieces through gender play (masculinity and femininity), assembly, and deconstruction. The brand also draws significant inspiration from contemporary art and Creole culture. But Anicet is more than just collections—it embodies values brought to life through special projects, such as upcycling workshops with institutions, major brands, and partner boutiques, as well as artistic installations.
The Tranoï Experience and Its Impact
Last year was your first time participating in Tranoï. What stood out the most during this experience?
September 2024 marked our first experience with Tranoï, and we were thrilled by the warm welcome from both the organizing team and the connections we built with other exhibitors. One of the most memorable aspects was the partnerships we established, particularly in Japan.
How did your presence at Tranoï impact Anicet’s development?
Thanks to Tranoï, we secured our first international retailers outside of France, particularly in Asia. It was also an opportunity to better understand buyers' needs and reconnect with institutional supporters such as the City of Paris (through the Bureau of Fashion, Design, and Craftsmanship), Francéclat, the Ministry of Culture, and the press.
What motivated you to return for this new edition?
I was motivated to return because of the incredible experience we had in September. Additionally, I wanted to establish a long-term presence and a recurring platform to further develop our international distribution.
Are you preparing any new or special pieces for this edition of Tranoï?
Absolutely! We’re excited to present this new permanent collection. It’s expanded and more structured, featuring highly requested pieces like ear cuffs and keychains, along with exceptional one-of-a-kind creations.
The Future of Anicet and Elia’s Vision
How do you see the future of Anicet? Do you have any upcoming projects or collaborations?
We’re entering this new year with great enthusiasm. We aim to continue expanding both in France and internationally. One of our goals is to establish more partnerships with brands looking to upcycle their dormant stock through exclusive capsule collections—a beautiful way to combine craftsmanship, innovation, and sustainability.
We also want to keep developing special projects, such as our exhibition for the Olympic Games.
An exciting collaboration is on the horizon… We can’t wait to share more with you soon!
What advice would you give to a young designer looking to exhibit at a trade show like Tranoï?
Be well-prepared. Stay authentic, highlight what makes you unique, and don’t be afraid to be innovative and creative.
