LATE FOR WORK

LATE FOR WORK

LATE FOR WORK is the offbeat and creative vision of Youssef Drissi, the young Moroccan designer whose bold aesthetic reflects a joyful cynicism toward society’s imperfections. This explosive and subversive mix of shapes and cuts disrupts the dogma of corporatism in all its forms, embracing a lifestyle where, fundamentally, nothing really matters—except being in tune with one’s personality in all its complexity. “Deconstruct to better wear” could be the motto of this young designer, a graduate of Casablanca’s Casa Mode Academy and winner of the title of Best Young Designer in Africa (FIMA 2018).

WE ARE NBO

WE ARE NBO

We Are NBO is a handmade jewelry brand based in Nairobi. The brand collaborates with artisans often from marginalized backgrounds who are both talented and highly skilled, using traditional craftsmanship to create contemporary, sought-after jewelry. They creatively repurpose their tools, using reworked water pumps as sanding benches and denim scraps as polishing wheels, and primarily work with recycled and upcycled tools and materials salvaged from waste streams, such as brass, wood, and bone. The 24K gold-plated pieces are the result of a dialogue between the artisan and the designer, Michael Nguthu.
